The Next AI Battle Is Agent Infrastructure

From IBM and Google Cloud to Norton, Shell, and S&P Global, today’s launches show AI agents moving into real workflows, payments, security, and enterprise operations.

In partnership with

AI agents now read your docs almost as much as humans do.

Mintlify analyzed 790 million requests across its documentation platform. The finding: AI coding agents account for 45.3% of all traffic, nearly tied with traditional browsers at 45.8%.

Two tools are driving almost all of it:

  • Claude Code: 25.2% of total traffic, more requests than Chrome on Windows

  • Cursor: 18% of total traffic

  • Together they account for 95.6% of all identified AI agent traffic

The rest of the field, OpenCode, Trae, ChatGPT, and NotebookLM, is showing up but nowhere close.

One caveat: OpenAI's Codex doesn't send an identifiable user-agent header, so the real agent percentage is likely even higher.

The takeaway for anyone maintaining developer docs: your documentation now serves two audiences. Structure and machine-readability matter as much as clarity for human readers.

IBM and Google Cloud launched a new Google Cloud Practice to help enterprises move AI from pilots into production.
IBM says the practice combines IBM Consulting Advantage with Gemini Enterprise, cybersecurity, and data capabilities, supported by thousands of Google Cloud-certified IBM consultants and forward-deployed engineers.
The companies frame the partnership as a multi-billion-dollar opportunity focused on AI deployment, legacy modernization, and hybrid cloud management.
IBM is also creating industry-specific AI agents optimized for Gemini Enterprise across banking, government, retail, telecom, energy, security, insurance, and life sciences.
Strategic signal: enterprise agent adoption is shifting from tools to packaged transformation programs run by major services firms.

S&P Global launched Credit Memo Builder, an agentic AI-powered workflow platform for credit decisioning reports.
The product aggregates S&P Global data sources to reduce the manual work of collecting and synthesizing credit information.
It uses S&P RatingsDirect, RiskGauge, S&P Capital IQ Pro, and Kensho adaptive data retrieval to combine structured and unstructured data.
The goal is to help loan committees, underwriters, and credit analysts move faster while keeping rigor and control in the credit process.
Strategic signal: financial AI agents are targeting high-value analyst workflows where trusted data, auditability, and speed directly affect decisions.

Rootly launched its @Rootly AI Agent in Slack for incident-response teams.
During an incident, teams can mention @Rootly and the agent reads Rootly incident data, Slack channel discussion, and bridge call transcripts in real time.
It can answer questions, take actions, and report back in-thread so responders do not need to leave the incident channel.
Common use cases include catch-up briefs, on-call handoffs, field updates, and improvement analysis.
Strategic signal: operational agents are becoming embedded directly inside team workflows, turning Slack from a chat layer into an action layer.

Ory launched Ory Talos, a security product for AI agents and non-human identities.
The product replaces static API keys with dynamic, revocable, least-privilege credentials designed to govern agents at scale.
Ory says more than 80% of organizations have already deployed AI agents in production, but only 21% have documented policies for governing them.
The launch targets the core enterprise question around agents: who they are, what they are doing, where they can go, and what happens if they go rogue.
Strategic signal: agent identity is becoming a core security category as enterprises realize agents need the same governance discipline as employees and services.

Ra Pay AI announced it executed what it calls the first command-line AI agent payment for a regulated insurance company.
The transaction was completed with Tabit Insurance, a reinsurance company that holds its regulatory capital in Bitcoin.
Ra Pay describes itself as a CLI-native AI agent payment primitive built for agents operating from the terminal rather than browser-based checkout flows.
The system includes human-in-the-loop authorization and integrated compliance controls for agent payments.
Strategic signal: the agent economy is moving from “agents can act” to “agents can transact,” with payments, compliance, and authorization becoming critical infrastructure.
