Microsoft released its 2026 Agent Confidence Index, based on input from 300 technical experts across AI, data, cloud, 12 industries, and four regions. The report scores confidence across 101 agentic tasks, with the average landing at 64 out of 100.

The strongest near-term use cases are practical automation tasks: report generation, boilerplate code, certificate renewal, stream monitoring, and release-note generation. The strategic takeaway is clear: enterprises are becoming comfortable with agents where work is structured, repeatable, and reviewable.

Microsoft also found that human-in-the-loop oversight remains the top priority, showing that trust infrastructure is becoming as important as model capability.

Microsoft published new SMB-focused agent adoption examples showing how smaller companies are using AI agents to reduce manual work and stretch lean teams. The standout case is Dunaway, which reported a 90% reduction in research time and roughly 10,000 hours saved annually through AI-agent workflows.

Microsoft frames this as especially important for small and medium businesses, which represent about 400 million companies globally and often operate with limited cash reserves. The implication is that agent adoption is not only an enterprise story; it is becoming a survival and leverage tool for smaller operators. For Agent Pulse readers, this is a useful proof point that agents are moving from experimentation into measurable business-process compression.

Stibo Systems launched an MCP Server that lets AI agents access trusted enterprise master data through the open Model Context Protocol. The company positions master data management as the context layer agents need to understand products, customers, suppliers, relationships, hierarchies, and governance rules.

Key capabilities include governed access to master data, no custom integration, platform-agnostic deployment, preserved governance, and semantic data graph support. One highlighted use case is a personalized shopping agent on Microsoft’s platform accessing verified product data to answer customer questions accurately. The strategic point is strong: agents are only as useful as the trusted data layer they can safely access.

What started as a newsletter platform has evolved into something much bigger: a place where creators and brands can grow, monetize, and own their audiences without stitching together half the internet to make it work.

Straiker announced a $64 million Series A, bringing total funding to $85 million, to build security for enterprise AI agents. The round was led by Marathon Management Partners with participation from Citi Ventures, Illuminate Financial, Workday Ventures, Bain Capital Ventures, Lightspeed, and others. Straiker’s platform focuses on discovering AI agents, monitoring tools and MCP connections, red-teaming workflows, and enforcing runtime guardrails against prompt injection, data leakage, and tool manipulation.

The funding shows that agent-security companies are becoming a serious venture category as enterprises move from pilots into production. Strategically, Straiker is betting that every company will need an inventory, testing, and protection layer for its growing “agentic workforce.”

CyberScoop reported that Senator Mark Warner released a draft bill called the AI AGENT Act for feedback before formal Senate consideration. The proposal would empower the FTC to create a registry for AI-agent sellers and providers that meet cybersecurity and privacy standards. It would also require large platforms with more than 50 million monthly customers to let users choose at least one compliant AI-agent provider.

The draft focuses on practical controls such as granting and revoking agent permissions and linking an agent to the human operator behind it. Strategically, this is one of the clearest signals that policymakers are beginning to treat AI agents as actors that need identity, permissions, and accountability.

AvePoint released its State of AI Report showing that AI-agent usage is rising faster than enterprise visibility and governance. The company says 46.9% of employees rely on AI agents daily or weekly, while 88.4% of organizations reported at least one agent-related security incident in the past year. AvePoint also found that the visibility gap around unsanctioned AI use nearly tripled from 6.3% in 2025 to 17.6% in 2026.

The report says nearly nine in ten organizations delayed agentic or generative AI deployment by almost six months on average because of data security and governance concerns. The strategic message is that agent adoption is no longer the bottleneck; governance, visibility, and data readiness are.
