OpenAI Extends ACP as Agentic Commerce Takes Shape

The Agent Economy Is Starting to Get Infrastructure

In partnership with

You’ve seen what Hugo can do. But can you trust it to take action?

Over the past few weeks, you’ve seen how Hugo can resolve up to 80% of customer support conversations automatically. Resolving questions sounds cool, but are your customers really getting what they need?

Hugo is an AI agent that accomplishes true actions such as upgrading accounts, retrieving invoices or even processing refunds with access to your stack.

Before performing sensitive actions, Hugo verifies user identity directly inside the conversation without the hassle of sending the user elsewhere. That means everything stays secure while your customers can get things done instantly, and your team stays confident that everything is handled correctly.

Global teams using Hugo are already saving time, reducing workload, and trusting Hugo with real-time customer requests. This could be you.

OpenAI announced richer product discovery inside ChatGPT, including more visual browsing, side-by-side comparisons, and more detailed product information. Underneath that UI change, OpenAI said it is extending the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) as the connective layer between merchants and users during discovery, with support for merchant feeds and promotions through providers like Salesforce and Stripe. The strategic takeaway is that OpenAI is continuing to build the infrastructure for AI-native commerce, even as the product experience shifts toward discovery and comparison rather than forcing checkout into the chat flow.

Gap said it is introducing two AI commerce capabilities: personalized fit guidance via Bold Metrics’ Agent Sizing Protocol and support for Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) to enable more seamless conversational and agentic commerce experiences. This is notable because it moves agentic commerce from abstract protocol talk into a major consumer retailer’s actual shopping stack. The broader implication is that merchants are starting to optimize not just for human web shoppers, but for AI-mediated product discovery, sizing, and checkout flows.

Botify launched Agentic Feeds, a new product designed to automate the creation and delivery of AI-optimized, protocol-compliant product feeds for agent-driven discovery. The company says the product is currently in tech preview and is already being used by a major retailer covering more than 1 million products, with general availability planned for the second half of 2026. This is one of the clearest infrastructure plays in agentic commerce: not a shopping assistant itself, but the data layer that determines whether brands are even visible to shopping agents in the first place.

Oracle introduced 22 new Fusion Agentic Applications designed for finance, HR, supply chain, and customer experience workflows, framing them as teams of AI agents that can reason, decide, and act toward business objectives inside Oracle’s existing security and approval framework. At the same time, Oracle expanded AI Agent Studio with a new Agentic Applications Builder, plus workflow orchestration, contextual memory, content intelligence, ROI measurement, testing, and validation features. The strategic signal is that Oracle is pushing beyond copilots into full outcome-driven enterprise agent execution, while trying to make agent building more configurable and governable for large organizations.

Following a $30 million Series B funding round, Lucidya has launched its Enterprise AI Agent platform specifically optimized for Arabic-speaking markets. The platform enables organizations to deploy autonomous agents capable of handling customer service across 15+ Arabic dialects with enterprise-grade security. This launch marks a significant expansion of agentic AI into regional markets, providing localized infrastructure for autonomous commerce and customer engagement.

UiPath launched new purpose-built agentic AI solutions for financial crime compliance and loan origination, aimed at helping banks automate investigations, compliance workflows, and lending operations while maintaining auditability and regulatory control. The release also highlights UiPath’s recent WorkFusion acquisition, which it is using to strengthen its AI-agent capabilities for sanctions screening, adverse media monitoring, and alert review. This matters because it shows agentic AI moving into a highly regulated, high-friction industry where measurable workflow automation matters more than generic chatbot novelty.
