The Latest Agentic Development

Google launched agentic checkout across Google Search (AI Mode) and Gemini, enabling autonomous AI agents to execute purchases directly on merchant websites using a new “Buy for me” button. The rollout is live with selected US retailers and effectively turns search into a transactional agent layer that can complete end-to-end buying flows without the user manually navigating merchant sites. Strategically, this pushes Google deeper into agentic commerce rails and forces retailers to optimize for agent-facing experiences, not just human UX.

A January 2026 forecast notes that 62% of businesses were already testing agentic AI by late 2025, with 23% implementing agents in at least one operational area. The Protiviti AI Pulse survey projects nearly 70% of organizations will integrate autonomous or semi-autonomous AI agents into workflows in 2026, shifting agents from experiment to embedded collaborator. For strategy teams, this implies agents will rapidly become table stakes in enterprise process design, intensifying competition in agent platforms and orchestration tooling.

AI startup Parloa raised a $350 million Series D at a $3 billion valuation to accelerate its enterprise customer experience agents platform. The funding – led by General Catalyst with support from EQT, Altimeter and others – will fuel Parloa’s expansion in the U.S. and Europe and bolster its Agent Management Platform (AMP), which lets companies design and manage AI agents that deliver personalized customer interactions with minimal coding.

Mitsubishi Electric announced a multi-agent system that uses an argumentation framework to generate adversarial debates among expert agents, aiming for faster, more transparent decisions in high-stakes tradeoff settings (e.g., security analysis, production planning, risk assessment). Strategic implication: this is a concrete pattern for enterprises trying to make agentic reasoning auditable a key requirement for regulated or safety-critical deployments.

IXOPAY introduced three TokenEx tokenization packages positioned as a faster path for merchants to secure payment data while staying processor-independent (avoiding lock-in to processor-owned tokens). The framing is notable: tokenization is treated less as “security hygiene” and more as foundational infrastructure for an agentic commerce world where autonomous systems increasingly participate in transactions.
