GitHub Expands Copilot AI Agents, Microsoft Opens Multi-Model Runtime

Insurify launches agent-powered insurance shopping; Fragment, Plato, Rocker and Omnichat announce $94.85M in combined funding for procurement, agent training and workplace automation.

In partnership with

Store It. Search It. Analyze It. One Postgres

Your AI app generates three kinds of data at once: events, vector embeddings, and the analytics you run on top of them. The default move is three systems, three sets of tooling, and pipelines to keep them in sync.

TimescaleDB handles all three in the Postgres you already run.

Hypertables ingest events at scale. pgvector and pgvectorscale store and search embeddings. Continuous aggregates keep analytics live without re-querying everything.

Same SQL, same tools, one system to operate. No pipelines to sync, no drift, no second database to feed.

Point it at your heaviest workload and watch it stay fast as data grows. It's still Postgres. Start on Tiger Cloud and get $1000 in credits.

GitHub’s Universe announcements expand Copilot from individual coding sessions into coordinated software delivery. Copilot projects run parallel agent sessions across repositories, while Copilot Fusion selects one or more models for each task. GitHub reports Fusion Max scored within two points of Opus 5.5 Max on the Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index at half the cost and 40% less time per task. Automations can also propose improvements based on previous outcomes, subject to approval.

The strategic shift: Coding platforms are competing on how effectively they coordinate, evaluate and complete agent work across the development lifecycle.

Microsoft made its Copilot harness available through Microsoft Foundry, giving developers the agent infrastructure used across GitHub and Microsoft products. It supports 20-plus frontier models, bring-your-own-key access, MCP, agent skills and plugins. Developers can download the SDK or use a managed cloud runtime covering the agent loop, sandbox, governance and optimization for complex, long-running tasks.

The strategic shift: Microsoft is turning its internal agent infrastructure into a platform enterprises can use to build their own agents.

Insurify launched an AI Agent Gateway that lets personal agents retrieve and compare real-time insurance quotes through an MCP server, WebMCP tools and an agent-optimized website. Approved integrations must preserve coverage details and disclosures, obtain consumer consent and identify agent access. Shoppers then move to the carrier to review coverage and complete the purchase. Insurify’s marketplace includes 120-plus carrier partners.

The strategic shift: Insurance marketplaces are opening controlled distribution channels for consumers who delegate shopping to their own agents.

Fragment emerged with $56 million in total funding, including a Series A led by 8VC and a seed round co-led by General Catalyst and A*. Its Autonomous Context Engine combines enterprise data, policies and institutional knowledge so agents can investigate invoice discrepancies, purchasing changes and other exceptions, then execute authorized resolutions across existing systems. Named deployments include Graybar and CNX; its commercial model centers on work completed by agents.

The strategic shift: Enterprise agents are targeting the exception-handling work that still requires employees to reconcile information across business systems.

Plato raised a $16 million Series A led by Nava Ventures, bringing total funding to $19 million. The startup pays professionals to recreate jobs—including customer support, finance, accounting, HR and healthcare administration—as simulated environments for agent training and evaluation. Assessments examine both the completed result and the steps taken, including whether agents followed rules. Participants include Gradient Ventures, Transpose Platform and Microsoft AI chief Mustafa Suleyman.

The strategic shift: Realistic workplace simulations are becoming infrastructure for testing whether agents can perform jobs reliably before accessing production systems.

Rocker announced $12.85 million in funding led by Greycroft, with participation from the Anthology Fund, Matchstick and Stripe. Its assistant maintains persistent context about projects, decisions, people and dependencies, connecting individual agents across an organization. The system can run inside a customer’s own cloud, and private user context requires approval before sharing.

The strategic shift: Workplace agent startups are targeting coordination failures between teams, where shared organizational context matters as much as individual task execution.

Omnichat secured a $10 million Series A led by Openspace Capital to expand its marketing, sales and customer-service agents. Its products generate messaging campaigns, recommend products, close orders and resolve enquiries across channels including WhatsApp, LINE, Instagram and TikTok. The company says around 300 brands adopted OmniClaw, its business-analysis agent, within two months of its June launch.

The strategic shift: Conversational commerce platforms are connecting campaign creation, sales execution and support around a shared customer profile.
