Alibaba.com launches agentic “AI Mode” for B2B sourcing

Alibaba.com unveiled AI Mode, an agentic AI assistant on its B2B e-commerce platform to streamline supplier sourcing. Introduced at the CoCreate Europe event and rolled out this month, AI Mode goes beyond keyword search by acting as a fully automated agent for finding and vetting specialized suppliers. It enables SMEs to conduct complex sourcing tasks (like RFQ initiation and cross-comparing suppliers) via a conversational interface

Bezos’s Project Prometheus acquires AI agent startup 

Project Prometheus (an AI venture co-led by Jeff Bezos) quietly acquired General Agents, a San Francisco startup founded by former DeepMind and OpenAI researchers. General Agents is known for Ace, an AI “computer pilot” that autonomously performs user-specified tasks across applications (demos show it browsing the web, downloading images, editing documents, booking travel, etc.). With this acquisition, Prometheus has brought on board the General Agents team (including cofounders Sherjil Ozair and William Guss) to leverage their agentic AI technology as Prometheus builds systems for automated manufacturing and other real-world processes.

GoDaddy expands Airo.ai with six new AI agents 

GoDaddy announced six new AI-powered agents in its Airo.ai platform for small businesses. These agents automate tasks like unified inbox management, marketing planning (Calendar and Social Posts agents), appointment scheduling, domain setup, domain security, and connecting to expert help. The enhanced Airo.ai suite is designed to save entrepreneurs time and strengthen their online presence by integrating multiple AI tools behind the scenes.

Worldpay releases open agentic payments protocol

Payments processor Worldpay (a Global Payments company) launched an open protocol for “agentic” commerce to let AI shopping bots transact on behalf of users. The public protocol (available on Worldpay’s developer hub and GitHub) allows developers to integrate AI agents directly with Worldpay’s payment API. Worldpay said it will charge no licensing fees or restrictions, enabling companies to experiment with autonomous shopping. Worldpay’s Chief Product Officer called agentic commerce “the next evolutionary step in online shopping” and positioned the protocol as a secure framework for AI-driven purchases

Newegg integrates PayPal agentic commerce

Online retailer Newegg partnered with PayPal to integrate its agentic commerce services for AI-powered shopping. Newegg’s product catalog will become discoverable inside AI assistants and shopping platforms (starting with Perplexity), allowing customers to find and purchase Newegg items via conversational AI and check out with PayPal. Importantly, Newegg remains the merchant of record for all transactions, preserving the brand’s customer relationships even as shopping moves into AI interfaces
