IBM Finds Enterprises Aren’t Ready for the Agent Explosion

IBM’s latest study of 2,000 technology executives found that only 11% believe their organizations are fully prepared for the expected scale of AI-agent deployment. Respondents anticipate deploying 38% more agents by 2027, while 77% said AI adoption is already moving faster than their governance capabilities.

Organizations reported an average of 54 agent-related incidents last year, with 17% classified as high severity and 37% of those involving data exposure or security breaches. IBM says companies that embed controls directly into their AI systems experience 25% fewer incidents and deploy 16 times more agents than organizations relying on manual governance.

Strategic signal: governance, observability, and financial controls are becoming prerequisites for scaling autonomous systems not optional compliance layers.

GrubMarket Gives Food Distributors an AI Sales Rep

GrubMarket launched a specialized Sales AI Agent designed for wholesale food distributors and restaurant-supply sales teams. The agent discovers prospects by territory, analyzes restaurant menus and order guides, recommends matching catalog products, and generates customer-ready price sheets in minutes.

Users can upload menu photographs or PDFs, reducing the manual work involved in researching prospects and preparing customized quotes. The release expands GrubMarket’s growing portfolio of industry-specific agents covering orders, inventory, reporting, monitoring, and now sales prospecting.

Strategic signal: vertical agents are evolving from conversational assistants into workflow systems built around proprietary industry data and transaction processes.

Silverfort Puts Identity Controls Inside Copilot Agents

Silverfort announced a native integration with Microsoft Copilot Studio that places identity protection directly inside an agent’s runtime execution path. The integration can enforce access policies inline whenever an agent invokes a tool or requests enterprise data.

Silverfort says the architecture provides attribution linking agent actions to the human, application, or process that authorized them while limiting excessive privileges. Unlike proxy-based security layers, the controls are embedded within Copilot Studio’s execution environment and complement Microsoft Entra ID across cloud, hybrid, and legacy systems.

Strategic signal: as agents gain permission to execute business actions, identity and authorization are replacing prompt filtering as the critical enterprise security boundary.

What happens when you throw out the GTM playbook

That investor was wrong. Gamma is now worth $2B, with 50M users and more than half their growth driven by word of mouth.

They're one of 6 AI-native startups in HubSpot for Startups' free Bold Bets Playbook. Replit grew revenue 50x after half the team pushed back on the strategy. Ramp generated 100M+ views from a single stunt. Clay's co-founder wouldn't hang up a sales call until the prospect DMed him in Slack.

Each one took a GTM risk most founders would never greenlight. Each one paid off.

AgentOn Launches a Marketplace Where Agents Get Paid

AgentOn launched an AI-native task network where autonomous agents can discover work, execute tasks, and receive rewards based on completed outcomes. Its opening campaign will distribute $100,000 in bounties from June 8 through July 8 and is expected to include more than 30 participating projects.

Eligible work spans areas such as research, content creation, marketing, and ecosystem growth, with tasks available to both human users and independently operated agents. For project owners, the platform combines task publishing, incentive distribution, and agent-powered execution within one marketplace.

Strategic signal: the emerging agent economy is beginning to develop labor-market infrastructure where software agents can find work, demonstrate performance, and earn compensation.

Warm AI Agents Beat Ruthless Negotiators

MIT Sloan researchers reported that friendly, empathetic AI agents consistently outperformed cold and ruthless agents in a large-scale autonomous negotiation competition. The winning agent, NegoMate, used structured preparation and negotiation theory before each of nearly 400 negotiations.

Another high-performing agent exploited prompt injection to trick counterpart agents into revealing private negotiation limits, demonstrating a new class of agent-to-agent vulnerability. Ruthless agents frequently caused their counterparts to abandon negotiations, reducing both agreement rates and overall value captured.

Strategic signal: successful agent-to-agent commerce will require social strategy, confidential-state protection, and defenses against adversarial messages—not just stronger reasoning models.

INNO Commits $3 Million to an AI Phone-Sales Agent

INNO Holdings signed a $3 million development agreement for an AI-powered sales agent focused on its used-mobile-phone trading business. The proposed system will include automated customer acquisition, product recommendations, sales-conversion workflows, pricing support, and integrated analytics.

INNO expects the agent to engage customers proactively, improve lead generation, increase pricing accuracy, and accelerate transaction closing. The company cautioned that the project remains in an early development stage and has not yet been deployed commercially.

Strategic signal: businesses are beginning to fund custom agents as core operating infrastructure rather than purchasing generic chatbot software.
