Agentic Commerce Is Starting to Show Real Revenue Share

In partnership with

88% resolved. 22% stayed loyal. What went wrong?

That's the AI paradox hiding in your CX stack. Tickets close. Customers leave. And most teams don't see it coming because they're measuring the wrong things.

Efficiency metrics look great on paper. Handle time down. Containment rate up. But customer loyalty? That's a different story — and it's one your current dashboards probably aren't telling you.

Gladly's 2026 Customer Expectations Report surveyed thousands of real consumers to find out exactly where AI-powered service breaks trust, and what separates the platforms that drive retention from the ones that quietly erode it.

If you're architecting the CX stack, this is the data you need to build it right. Not just fast. Not just cheap. Built to last.

Firmly introduced Firmly Connect, a no-code onboarding product designed to let merchants plug into agentic commerce channels without the usual heavy integration work. The company says traditional integrations can take 3 to 12 months, involve 12 to 18 people, and cost $250,000 to $500,000 per channel, while its new flow reduces merchant effort to roughly 45 minutes and cuts integration costs by an estimated 95%. Named merchants include Best Buy and Backcountry, and the bigger takeaway is that the agentic commerce stack is starting to shift from theory and protocols toward practical merchant enablement. That matters because onboarding friction has been one of the biggest blockers to real-world deployment.

A March 29 Fortune piece offered one of the clearest same-day market signals that agentic commerce is moving beyond concept stage: some brands are already attributing 10% of revenue to agentic channels, while Target’s traffic from ChatGPT is described as growing 40% month over month. The article also points to a structural change in digital commerce: agents are increasingly controlling product discovery, which shifts importance away from traditional web “front doors” and toward machine-readable content, APIs, and what the piece frames as “Agent Experience.” Strategically, this is the strongest March 29 evidence I found that brands are beginning to measure AI agents as a real acquisition and transaction channel, not just an experimental UX layer.

“Engineers Don’t Type Code Anymore” Cognition’s Scott Wu Signals a Shift From Coding to Orchestration

Scott Wu, CEO of Cognition (the company behind the AI software engineer Devin), says something that would’ve sounded absurd a year ago: his engineers don’t type code anymore. Instead, they describe what they want in natural language, and AI systems generate, test, and iterate on the implementation.

Axios reported that top AI and government officials are increasingly worried that upcoming frontier models will make autonomous cyberattacks materially more dangerous in 2026, with Anthropic reportedly warning officials about an unreleased model internally branded “Mythos.” The article says Anthropic previously disclosed a late-2025 case where a Chinese state-sponsored group used AI agents to autonomously hack roughly 30 global targets, with the AI carrying out 80–90% of tactical operations. For the agent economy, this is important because it reinforces a growing split in the market: more capable agents create more value, but they also force enterprises to spend faster on agent governance, security controls, and controlled deployment environments.

At its Global Installer Summit, Huawei highlighted a more industrial deployment angle for agentic systems: an AI-driven “Installer Voice Loop” to collect and analyze field feedback, plus discussion of its FusionSolar AI agent as a way to improve productivity and reduce operations and maintenance costs. More than 500 partners and installers from 29 countries and regions attended the summit, which gives the announcement some real ecosystem weight even though it is outside the usual software-news cycle. The strategic angle is that agentic AI is showing up not only in enterprise software and commerce, but also in operational, field-service, and energy workflows where productivity and service feedback loops are directly tied to margin.
