ANTHROPIC DONATES MODEL CONTEXT PROTOCOL TO LINUX FOUNDATION

Anthropic donated the Model Context Protocol (MCP)—the "USB-C for AI"—to the Linux Foundation's new Agentic AI Foundation, joining OpenAI's AGENTS.md and Block's Goose as founding standards. MCP adoption has exceeded expectations with 10,000+ active public servers, integration into ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Visual Studio Code, plus 97M+ monthly SDK downloads. Google's AlphaEvolve—a Gemini-powered evolutionary coding agent for algorithm discovery and optimization—is now in private preview on Google Cloud. The system combines Gemini Flash (exploration) and Gemini Pro (refinement) models with automated evaluators to iteratively improve code.
