Gartner Says Agents Put $234B of SaaS Spend at Risk

Gartner warned that up to $234 billion in enterprise application SaaS spend could be exposed to “agentic arbitrage” by 2030. That represents about 20% of enterprise application SaaS spend, according to the firm.

The core idea is that AI agents can complete work across multiple systems, reducing the need for users to interact with traditional SaaS dashboards. This breaks the link between seat growth, user growth, and vendor revenue that has powered much of the SaaS model.

Strategically, Gartner is signaling that agentic workflow layers could sit above legacy applications and shift value from software interfaces to outcomes.

OKX Builds a Marketplace Where Agents Hire Agents

OKX introduced an AI-agent marketplace where agents can discover services, hire other agents, pay in stablecoins, and build onchain reputations. Coverage published July 1 says the marketplace was announced June 30 and is rolling out after a closed beta with about 50 participants.

Initial partners include CertiK for wallet and token checks, CoinAnk for live market data, and GenLayer for dispute resolution. The platform supports agent bidding and machine-to-machine payments using stablecoins.

Strategically, OKX is building toward an agent economy where identity, reputation, payments, and dispute handling are native infrastructure.

BNB Chain Turns Agents Into Ownable Onchain Assets

BNB Chain launched BNB Agent Studio, a developer platform for creating onchain AI agents. The platform lets builders describe an agent inside Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible development tool and deploy it from a prompt in about 15 minutes.

Co-engineered with the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center, it generates infrastructure-as-code and deploys agents to Amazon Bedrock AgentCore while keeping key state onchain. Agents can accept crypto payments, charge for services, and receive verifiable identities using ERC-8004.

Strategically, BNB Chain is betting that AI agents will become ownable, transferable, revenue-generating digital assets rather than just backend automations.

Google Brings Gemini Spark Agent to macOS

Google’s Gemini Spark personal AI agent became available in the Gemini app for macOS. The rollout is for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. who are at least 18 years old.

Spark can access Mac files and desktop apps to complete background tasks, such as sorting PDFs or creating a budget spreadsheet from local invoices. Google is also adding integrations with Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow Rentals, with MCP support planned.

Strategically, this moves consumer agents closer to the operating system, where file access and app control make personal AI agents more useful.

Cloudflare Wants to Tax the Agentic Web

Cloudflare introduced new tools for the “Agentic Internet,” giving publishers more control over how AI agents and crawlers access their content. The company says automated agents and bots now drive more than half of web requests, turning AI crawling into a core internet infrastructure issue.

The launch includes new classifications, enhanced analytics, and commercial partnerships designed to help websites restrict, understand, or monetize AI access.

Strategically, Cloudflare is positioning itself as the broker between content owners and AI companies building agentic search, browsing, and commerce systems. For the agent ecosystem, this is a major step toward access rules, compensation models, and traffic governance for autonomous agents.

Couchbase Adds Memory Infrastructure for Enterprise Agents

Couchbase unveiled an AI Data Plane designed to unify data infrastructure for enterprise AI agents. The launch combines vector, caching, and document-store capabilities to support retrieval, memory, and low-latency context.

Its Agent Memory capability is pitched as a framework-agnostic persistence layer that can run across cloud, self-managed, and edge environments. Couchbase says Agora is among early adopters using the system for conversational AI pipelines across sales, customer service, and physical AI use cases.

Strategically, the release reinforces that persistent memory and context are becoming core infrastructure for enterprise agents.
