OpenAI notified developers on June 3 that Agent Builder is being deprecated, with shutdown scheduled for November 30, 2026. ChatKit remains available, while developers are directed to migrate toward the Agents SDK or ChatGPT Workspace Agents. The same deprecation page also lists reusable prompts and the Evals platform as being phased out, suggesting OpenAI is consolidating developer workflows around newer primitives. For builders, this is a platform-risk reminder: agent tooling is still early, and product surfaces can change quickly.

Strategic signal: OpenAI is narrowing the agent stack around SDKs and workspace-native agents instead of maintaining every earlier builder interface.

Lassie raised a $35 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Night Capital and operators behind Superhuman, Plaid, Wise, Reforge, and others. The company is building AI agents that automate administrative work for small businesses, starting with dental practices and other provider-heavy local businesses. a16z framed the thesis clearly: small businesses may be among the first companies to “run themselves” because owners are overloaded with scheduling, billing, intake, follow-ups, paperwork, and back-office coordination. The raise signals investor appetite for vertical AI agents that don’t just assist workers, but actually absorb repetitive business operations.

Strategic signal: the next major agent market may be millions of small businesses that cannot afford large software teams, but desperately need operational leverage.

Meta unveiled a new AI Business Agent designed to help companies automate day-to-day customer operations across WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram. The agent can answer customer questions, qualify leads, book appointments, close sales, and hand complex issues to human staff. Meta says more than 1 million businesses already used earlier chatbot versions on WhatsApp and Messenger, giving the company a major distribution base for agentic business workflows. The broader strategy is clear: Meta wants to turn messaging into an operating layer for commerce, service, and sales automation.

Strategic signal: the next enterprise agent battleground may not be dashboards — it may be the messaging apps where customers already talk to businesses.

Qlik announced a Snowflake Native App for its Model Context Protocol Server, connecting Snowflake Intelligence and Cortex Agents to Qlik Cloud. The goal is to let Cortex Agents access Qlik-governed analytics assets such as apps, KPIs, formulas, chart data, and lineage directly from Snowflake workflows. Qlik says the broader push is about bringing real-time enterprise data, governed business context, and open agentic capabilities into Snowflake-centered AI initiatives. This helps agents operate with trusted analytics context instead of disconnected data fragments.

Strategic signal: MCP-style interoperability is becoming a core enterprise agent requirement.

Medable launched an Agentic Accelerator Program to help life-sciences companies deploy agentic AI across clinical development. The program includes onboarding, integration support, governance, change management, AI clinical-development experts, and forward-deployed engineers. Medable says only 22% of life-sciences leaders have scaled AI across the enterprise, and even fewer have transformed clinical development. The company positions agentic AI as a way to bend the time and cost curve of clinical trials.

Strategic signal: agentic AI is moving into regulated industries where deployment support and governance may matter as much as the agent itself.
