Stripe Acquires OpenRouter as Model Routing Becomes Financial Infrastructure

Stripe agreed to acquire OpenRouter, the model-routing platform that dynamically routes requests across 400+ models from 80+ providers based on price, speed, reliability and task complexity. Reuters reports the deal is worth slightly more than $8 billion and says OpenRouter now processes 10+ trillion tokens per day for a community of more than 10 million developers and companies. Stripe already offers Token Billing and is explicitly building economic infrastructure for AI.

The strategic shift: model selection, token economics and payments are converging into one infrastructure layer. As agents dynamically choose models and spend money, Stripe increasingly sits underneath both their compute decisions and their financial transactions.

Natural Secures $100 Million to Finance AI Agent Transactions

Agent-payments startup Natural secured a credit facility of up to $100 million from Upper90, adding to more than $40 million in equity funding. Natural is building infrastructure that lets agents move money, accept payments, access capital and transact programmatically, arguing that agent-driven commerce will require significantly more embedded credit than traditional human-led payment flows.

The strategic shift: agentic payments are evolving beyond APIs and wallets into actual financial infrastructure, including working capital and credit. Autonomous commerce will need balance-sheet capacity, not just software.

Salesforce Turns Its Entire Platform Into an Action Layer for Any AI Agent

Salesforce significantly expanded Headless 360, exposing Salesforce business capabilities to authorized agents running in Agentforce, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other platforms. A new Headless 360 MCP Server preserves existing permissions, workflows and business logic; a Data 360 MCP Server exposes nearly 200 APIs; and Salesforce now offers 100+ reusable Agent Skills. Slackbot can also connect through MCP to Salesforce and more than 20 partner apps. One customer, Engine, launched its EVA support agent in 12 days, and it now resolves half of customer chats without a human.

The strategic shift: Salesforce is treating its applications less as destinations humans must open and more as a governed backend that any authorized agent can operate.

Anthropic Makes Agent Skills Production-Ready and Adds Persistent Memory

Anthropic moved Agent Skills and the Skills API to general availability while adding several production controls for Claude Managed Agents. Self-hosted agent sandboxes can now attach persistent memory stores, developers can restrict web_search and web_fetch to specific domains, and a redesigned session viewer exposes costs, raw events, tool statistics, mounted resources and thread activity. The Files API also reached GA with 1 TB of storage per organization.

The strategic shift: Anthropic is filling out the operational layer around long-running agents: reusable capabilities, durable memory, constrained web access and observability rather than simply a stronger underlying model.

Oracle Expands Its Clinical Agent From Notes Into Coding and Patient Records

Oracle added automated professional-fee coding, real-time dictation and intelligent chart review to Oracle Health Clinical AI Agent. Its agents can share context and collaborate across clinical workflows while clinicians retain approval authority. Oracle says its existing note-generation capability has already saved U.S. physicians more than 400,000 hours over nearly two years. The coding agent can analyze a patient conversation and suggest charge codes, while the chart agent pulls relevant context from medical histories, labs and medications.

The strategic shift: healthcare agents are advancing from documentation assistants toward coordinated systems that participate directly in clinical and revenue-cycle workflows.

Rillet Raises $100 Million at a $1 Billion Valuation to Build an Agentic Finance OS

AI-native ERP startup Rillet raised a $100 million Series C led by ICONIQ at a $1 billion valuation, bringing total funding above $200 million. The company says it doubled new ARR in the last three months and now serves 600+ customers. Rillet is positioning its ERP as an “agentic operating layer for finance,” where humans and agents work against the same real-time ledger, policies, controls and audit trail while humans retain approval authority.

The strategic shift: vertical agents are moving directly into systems of record. Rather than bolting AI onto legacy ERP software, Rillet is redesigning the ERP itself around humans and agents sharing responsibility for financial operations.
