Amazon Blocks Meta’s Muse as AI Agent Costs Fall
Jev opens access at $0.042 per million input tokens, V7 reports 78% lower document costs, and Z.ai disables features after unauthorized code upload

The ice cream shop that makes money when it's cold
28 Wishes sells ice cream in Los Angeles. Below 70°F, sales fall about 20%. The weather is out of their hands. Rent isn't.
So the owners started putting about $20 a day into Kalshi weather markets, taking the cold side. The days that keep customers away now pay something back.
This is hedging. Big companies have done it for decades, buying protection against bad weather, fuel spikes and rising rates. It used to take a broker, a trading desk, and an order size no corner shop could meet.
Kalshi opens it up. Contracts on weather, fuel prices, inflation, tariffs and regulation, starting at a few dollars. Take a position on the outcome that would hurt you. If it hits, the payout softens it. If it doesn't, the contract expires and the good month was the point.

TypeSafe AI reportedly removed Jev’s waitlist on September 21, following its September 15 launch. The model returns structured decisions and probabilities, helping agents select tools, route tasks and decide whether to retry. The company advertises $0.042 per million input tokens, free output and responses in under half a second.
The strategic shift: Specialized decision models could reduce the cost of repeatedly calling larger language models inside agent workflows.

The strategic shift: Coding-agent adoption depends on explicit data permissions and verifiable controls over where proprietary code travels.
Texas A&M published details of healthcare AI licensed to startup Humanate: a receptionist supporting more than 100 languages, a pediatric companion and an experimental dementia-screening interface. Receptionist prototypes are being tested in Texas and Mississippi, helping with check-in, paperwork and records requests. The work remains a mix of pilots and applied research.
The strategic shift: Healthcare agents are finding practical entry points in administrative work and patient support, with escalation to clinical staff.
The Australian reports that OpenDebt secured $2 million in seed funding from Blackbird and Antler. Its technology assists collection staff or conducts automated voice conversations, assessing repayment circumstances and proposing plans. The startup is also considering U.S. expansion.
The strategic shift: Voice-agent startups are targeting specialized financial workflows where conversation quality and handling vulnerable customers matter as much as operating costs.
